Privacy for this Rufus guide

USB Field Notes is a static website. It has no accounts, forms or comments, and it sets no cookies.

What we collect ourselves

Nothing that identifies you. The site asks for no name, email or account. Copying the install command happens in your browser. When you click Copy or Download, the page sends one anonymous count (which button, which page, and the country reported by our network provider) so we can see which instructions people use. No cookie, IP address or visitor ID is stored.

Hosting logs

Vercel, which hosts the site, processes standard request logs needed to serve pages and defend against abuse. Its handling is described in the Vercel privacy policy.

Analytics and advertising

No third-party analytics script and no advertising is loaded. The only measurement is the anonymous Copy and Download count described above.

The program you download

Downloads come from GitHub, Microsoft or the developer's site, whose own policies apply. The program itself goes online only if you allow its update check on first launch, and then at most once a day while it is open (source). Its optional Windows ISO download contacts Microsoft only when you use it.
